Creative Painting

As I sit here thinking about the last two weeks, I’m reminded how great it is to be in the business of creative painting. At the moment, I’m working on a TV pilot called “Beauty and the Beast” and we have been fortunate enough to get to work on some really great pieces. It’s a great feeling to see all the set parts come together. As any of you start your projects, big or small, do it with passion and don’t get discouraged when things don’t go exactly as you wanted. Some of the best tricks I have learned, came from mistakes. Not every time you pick up the brush will you create a masterpiece but you will take another step closer to a creative painting finish that you will call on again some time in the future. It’s keeping your mind open to the happy accidents that lead us to the next great finish.

Keep in mind that no one knows it all and that the moment someone thinks they do, that’s the moment that they stopped getting better and learning. I work with a lot of artists in the film industry that are amazingly talented. The best part is, sometimes I can show them something and other times, they are showing me. So be open to those around you. You’ll be surprised what you can pick up if your open to suggestion. Look at it as though each time that you try, you will get better.

Perfect Execution

Sometimes your project won’t seem any better, but you will have gained more experience, thus you are getting better. Always remember that art is in the eye of the beholder. I have seen many pieces of art that have sold for millions that I think are terrible, but obviously someone else thinks they are worth while. My father told me something when I was young and I try to remember it any time my artwork is being scrutinized by others, a third of the people love you, a third of the people hate you and a third are indifferent. In the end you have to decide for yourself what the scale of success is. In the end you have to decide what is good and what needs more work.

South Kensington Museum Events in London

Just 6 years after the success of The Great Exhibition in 1851 and based on the suggestion of Price Albert, The South Kensington Museum as the first of a series of educational establishments was opened to the public. The South Kensington Museum was initially aimed to present decorative arts and Industrial object but a number of scientific collections were also included along with objects such as Educational, Food and Animal machineries and also building materials. Among the contributes Bennet Woodcroft, founder of Patent Office Library, created a divided section dedicated to exhibiting of machineries. Bands That Put On Great Concerts in LA

Some bands are amazing at performing live concerts in LA. Other bands are dreadful at it. I have heard some bands that sound like they have never played live before. They are completely out of sync, and the lead singer has no pitch to their voice. I lose a lot of respect for a band when they can’t play live. I have to suspect that they do a lot of work in the studio to make things sound good. So, here is a list of some of the best bands to see live.

1. Remy Zero

This is a band that breaks up and gets back together. When they are together they are incredible. Their live Concerts in LA are the best I’ve ever seen. They have so much energy. They are also very intimate with the crowd. They cut themselves open for each show. That’s one of the reasons the band has trouble staying together. Sometimes it just hurts too much to relive the songs over and over.

2. Mates of State

They are married, so it might be cheating. Still, they sound perfect together. They really get a flow going and it’s fun for everyone involved. He plays a set of drums, and she plays a KORG. That’s pretty much their entire set of instruments. Still, they churn out amazing song after amazing song. They are pretty good on CD, but they are amazing live.

3. Dashboard Confessional

I’ll never forget seeing Chris up there with a fever of a 103. He should have been in the hospital, but he refused to cancel the gig. He gave it his all and nearly passed out at the end of the Concerts in LA. That’s when you know that a band cares. This band has had some albums that were better than others. They are always good live.

4. Asteroid Galaxy Tour

This band is on the rise. They have a bit too many instruments, but when they get into their rhythm you realize they need all of them. They are a lot of fun. They seem determined to make sure everyone is having as much fun as they are. They get the house moving even if they are opening for a larger act. That is an impressive thing to do.

5. Something Corporate

This is piano rock at its finest. How often will you see a musician jump up on their piano and stomp on the keys? In this day and age it’s rare to see a music act even tour with a real piano, let alone break it every night. Their songs might not all be incredible, but when you hear them live you forget about that.

These are just a few bands that put on great shows. There are a lot of bands out there that really know how to play live. I respect that quite a bit at craigslist tampa. It usually makes me like their music more when they put on a great show. If live shows were free, I would have to go every night.…
